Preview: Merrimack welcomes Quinnipiac and Long Island in first two-game weekend of the season
The Merrimack Warriors are set for their first two-game weekend of the season, beginning Friday night at home against a red-hot Quinnipiac team. Then on Saturday, they’ll host the Long Island Sharks, an emerging and underrated program making its first-ever trip to Lawler Arena.
The Warriors are coming off a convincing 5-1 win over New Hampshire last Saturday. Quinnipiac enters the weekend 4-1-1 and is coming off a strong showing against Maine, where the Bobcats took five of a possible six points.
As for Long Island, the Sharks dropped two close games at Penn State last weekend — one in overtime — and you could argue they deserved a better result in Friday’s opener.
“We know the challenges in front of us this weekend,” said head coach Scott Borek. “We have two really good teams coming into our building, and we just need to focus on continuing to get better.”
