Recruit Report: Bookman on pace for all-time AJHL season
I feel redundant, but Zach Bookman continues to light up the AJHL as a defenseman. Bookman is third overall in the league with 41 points in 22 games for the Brooks Bandits, and he’s the top-scoring defenseman by a whopping 18 points.
The AJHL plays a 60-game regular-season schedule. Bookman is currently on pace for 27 goals and 85 assists for 112 points.
His current pace would break the all-time single-season scoring record by an AJHL defenseman, which was set by Gary Sweetnam in 1984-85. Bookman’s 85-assist pace would be top-10 all-time in the AJHL and most all-time by a defenseman in the league.
Merrimack committed Bookman out of Millbrook Prep in Sept. of 2019.
