Recruit Report: HS sophomores can begin communication
It won’t play a role in new commitments for a few months, but college coaches could begin speaking to high school sophomores yesterday (Jan. 1). Offers can be made to those players beginning in August, just before the start of their junior year of high school.
Usually, this wouldn’t mean much to Merrimack. The Warriors typically aren’t able to get themselves into the market for the top recruits that commit early into the process. But, the success of the last two years should open doors for the coaching staff to get into those conversations with players earlier in the process.
One quick note before we get to this week’s report … Merrimack was one of just seven programs in the nation to post a winning percentage of 70 percent or better in 2022 (the calendar year). Merrimack finished 2022 with a 27-11 record. The Warriors are in a group with Denver, Quinnipiac, Minnesota, Michigan, Minnesota State, and Boston University.
If you want to know more about Merrimack’s incoming 2023 recruit class, we talked a little about some of the players who have already signed NLIs for next season on our latest podcast with Scott Borek.
