Simon-Xavier Cyr is off to a hot start in the QMJHL.
The 2008-born Merrimack recruit has four points, including three goals, through his first five games of the season. It’s still early, but Cyr is on pace for 49 points, which would more than double his production from last season, when he finished with 22 points in 64 games.
I watched some video of Cyr’s early-season play today, and one thing that stood out was his willingness to lower his shoulder and initiate contact with defenders to get to the inside. There were a few clips where he simply bullied his way to the net.
