Stevenson will return against Yale, Young out for Merrimack
Chase Stevenson will play for Merrimack tomorrow night when they visit Yale.
Stevenson has been out of the lineup since Oct. 22 against St. Lawrence. He appeared in Merrimack’s first four games and scored three goals. Last season at UNH, he had 20 points (12g-8a) in 35 games and was figured in to be a big contributor to the Warriors this season.
“Chase is going to try to play against Yale,” Merrimack coach Scott Borek said in our most recent episode of The Mack Report Podcast. “We'll give it a bid and see how it goes. He practiced this week and feels very good. It's just going to be something where he has to manage it. If he can, he can continue to play. If he can't, he'll need surgery, and he'll have to move on to that phase of this.”
Michael Citara and Mike Brown won’t be ready to go against the Bulldogs. Borek said both are trending in the direction of being back after the upcoming holiday break.
Tyler Young will also miss the game against Yale. His status moving forward has not been determined yet; he’ll have an MRI on Friday.
“We're not certain on his return yet,” Borek said. “He has an MRI Friday, and we'll know more then. Given the start he's had and how hard he has worked, I hope it's not taken away from him.”
Merrimack closes the first half of the season on Friday night at Yale.
