NORTH ANDOVER — Providence beat Merrimack on Friday night, 8-3, at Lawler Arena.

The Friars improved to 12-5-6 on the season while the Warriors dropped to 14-7-1. Merrimack is now 1-3-1 in its last five games since the start of the second semester on Dec. 30.

“It wasn’t pretty,” said Merrimack coach Scott Borek. “It’s disappointing. We just gave up goals too easily. It was all very controllable and we didn’t control it, which was disappointing.”
