Tye Dorset clinches a fourth straight win for the Warriors with last-minute three pointer
Merrimack 59, Princeton 56
The Warriors picked up their fourth straight victory on Wednesday afternoon, grinding out a 59–56 road win over Princeton at Jadwin Gym.
Merrimack trailed by two in the final minute before Tye Dorset buried a three-pointer to give the Warriors a one-point lead. Dorset returned to the line on the next possession and calmly extended the margin to three with a pair of free throws.
Freshman Dylan Veillette sealed it in the closing seconds, blocking a late shot and securing the rebound to clinch the win.
Once again, the Warriors relied on a balanced offensive approach. Ernest Shelton led the way with 16 points, while Kevair Kennedy added 14 and Dorset chipped in 11.
“What a great road win. Not a lot of people have come into this gym over the last 50 years and left with a W,” Merrimack coach Joe Gallo said. “We could have folded when Princeton took their first lead of the second half with about four minutes to go. But we strung together some stops, executed, and made our free throws. That’s a sign of what can be a really good team.”
Kennedy added six rebounds and four assists, and Dorset contributed three steals on the defensive end.
The Warriors improved to 6–6 overall (4–6 in non-conference play) and will continue their three-game road swing Sunday afternoon at Vermont.
