UMass Lowell drops Merrimack at Lawler
NORTH ANDOVER — Merrimack watched as UMass Lowell erased a 10-point halftime lead en route to a 61-57 victory over the Warriors on Saturday night at Lawler Arena.
Merrimack led 37-27 at halftime and the Warriors led by as many as 12 points in the second half before Lowell completed the comeback.
The Warriors held a one-point lead with 3:16 left when UML’s Max Brooks dropped in a layup which put the River Hawks up by one point. Brooks, who was fouled on the play, sank the free throw to extend the edge to two points. UML would not relinquish that lead.
On the ensuing possession, the Warriors missed a three-pointer but had another shot at retaking the lead after a defensive stop with 1:46 left. However, a turnover gave Lowell the ball back and Connor Withers nailed a jumper to push the River Hawk lead to two possessions.
Jordan Minor led the way for the Warriors with 19 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double (his third double-double of the season). Mikey Watkins scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Malik Edmead chipped in with 11 points off of the bench.
NEXT: The Warriors will host Brown on Tuesday night (7 p.m.) at Hammel Court.
