Warriors beat Holy Cross, extend winning streak to five games
Merrimack 5, Holy Cross 2
The Warriors pushed their winning streak to five games on Saturday night at the Hart Center in Worcester, rolling past Holy Cross, 5-2.
Justin Gill (1g, 1a), Seamus Powell (1g, 1a), and Parker Lalonde (0g, 2a) all turned in multi-point nights for the Warriors, while Max Lundgren stopped 31 shots to backstop the win.
Merrimack struck first early in the opening period when Caelan Fitzpatrick scored just seconds after the expiration of a 5-on-3 power play. Holy Cross answered a few minutes later with Jack Seymour converting on the man advantage to tie the game, but the Warriors took control from there — rattling off the next three goals unanswered, coming from Powell, Nathan King, and Gill.
Merrimack went 1-for-3 on the power play, with Gill’s marker pushing the Warriors’ season power-play efficiency to 24 percent — ranked 11th in the nation.
The Warriors return home Friday night to face UMass, opening a home-and-home series that shifts to the Mullins Center next Saturday. Merrimack’s five-game run is its longest streak of the season — and the program’s best stretch since the Warriors won seven straight in the final month of the 2022-23 campaign.
