Warriors blow out Rider and officially qualified for the MAAC Tournament
Tye Dorset scored 18 points as Merrimack rolled to a 73–47 victory over Rider on Saturday night.
Dorset went an efficient 7-for-8 from the field for the Warriors (16-9, 12-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference). Ernest Shelton chipped in 15 points, while Kevair Kennedy added 14.
Merrimack, which sits atop the MAAC standings, improved to 16-9 overall and 12-2 in conference play. With the win, the Warriors officially punched their ticket to the MAAC Championships.
The outcome was never in doubt. Merrimack never trailed and carried a 20-point lead into halftime, setting the tone early and never letting up.
The Warriors return home Thursday night to face Marist. The Red Foxes enter the matchup 16-8 overall and 10-5 in MAAC play.
