Warriors put on a defensive clinic in win over Quinnipiac
NORTH ANDOVER — Merrimack put on a defensive clinic Sunday afternoon, limiting Quinnipiac star Amarri Monroe to just six points on 1 for 11 shooting in a 73-63 win at Lawler Arena.
Monroe and Merrimack guard Budd Clark are the two favorites to win MAAC Player of the Year.
Clark led the Warriors with 20 points and had eight steals, despite being limited to just 26 minutes due to two separate injuries that forced him to leave the floor twice in the first half.
Sean Trumper (14 points), Devon Savage (12 points), and Matt Becht (11 points) were also in double figures for the Warriors.
The Warriors forced 21 turnovers in the win.
Merrimack remained ahead of Mount St. Mary’s (which beat Siena on Sunday) in the MAAC standings. The Warriors will play Marist (13-5) on Thursday night to close out the regular season.
