Warriors remain perfect in MAAC play with win over Mount
Merrimack 75, Mount St. Mary's 65
Kevair Kennedy poured in 24 points and Ernest Shelton added 22 to lead the Warriors to a 75-65 win over Mount St. Mary’s on Friday afternoon at Lawler Arena. The victory lifted Merrimack to 8-7 overall and a perfect 4-0 in MAAC play.
Shelton and Kennedy did much of their damage at the free-throw line. Shelton was flawless, going 11-for-11 at the stripe, while Kennedy followed with an 11-for-15 performance.
On the defensive end, Dylan Veillette finished with four blocks and KC Ugwuakazi added three, combining for seven rejections. The Warriors were also active in the passing lanes, recording eight steals from six different players.
The win marked Merrimack’s sixth victory in its last seven games, with the lone blemish in that stretch coming in a non-conference loss at Vermont on Dec. 14.
Merrimack returns to action Sunday afternoon, hosting Manhattan.
