Warriors' shooting woes return in loss to Saint Francis
NORTH ANDOVER — Merrimack’s shooting woes returned on Saturday as the Warriors fell to Saint Francis (Pa.) 62-46 at Hammel Court. The loss was Merrimack’s first NEC defeat of the season.
The Warriors shot just 29.3 percent from the floor (17 for 58) and 13 percent from three-point range (3 for 23). The Warriors managed just 18 points in the first half and were down by 11 points at halftime.
Merrimack was led in scoring by Malik Edmead who had 13 points. The sophomore guard also had five assists and three steals. Jordan Minor finished with a double-double scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
Marlon Hargis scored 15 points for the Red Flash. Maxwell Land added 13 points and Josh Cohen 12 points.
Merrimack actually started the game on an 11-1 run in the first five minutes of the game but managed just seven points in the final 15 minutes of the half, and was outscored 28-7 during that stretch. The Warriors trailed by as many as 24 points in the second half before they pushed back with a 6-0 run late in the game.
GAME NOTES: Minor recorded his fifth double-double of the season. … Ziggy Reid had nine rebounds. … The Warriors forced more turnovers but were outscored 20-9 in points off of turnovers.
