Warriors win season finale at St. Francis
NEW YORK — Jordan Minor and Ziggy Reid scored 27 points apiece as Merrimack defeated St. Francis (N.Y.) 72-52 on Saturday. Reid also had eight rebounds.
Mikey Watkins had nine assists for Merrimack (14-16, 9-8 Northeast Conference).
Michael Cubbage had 15 points and nine rebounds for the Terriers (10-19, 7-11). Larry Moreno added 11 points.
The Warriors improved to 2-0 against the Terriers for the season. Merrimack defeated St. Francis (N.Y.) 74-64 on Dec. 29.
Saturday’s game was the regular-season finale for the Warriors. Merrimack is still not eligible for the NEC or NCAA Tournament due to NCAA rules regarding teams transitioning to Division I. There's a four-year NCAA postseason moratorium for schools that transition to D-I. Merrimack won’t be eligible for the postseason until 2024.
GAME NOTES: Minor capped off his third Northeastern Conference (NEC) campaign with his league-leading 13th double-double of the season after pulling down 12 rebounds. … The Warriors now have 33 Northeast Conference wins in their first three seasons in Division I. … Merrimack finished the season a perfect 7-0 when shooting over 50%. The squad shot 53% in the victory over St. Francis. … Reid had a season-high in points (27), shots made (11), shots attempted (15) and threes made (4).
