Warriors win their fourth straight on the road at Brown
Merrimack 3, Brown 2
The Warriors pushed their winning streak to four games Saturday night, grinding out a 3-2 victory over Brown.
Merrimack found itself chasing the game just 46 seconds in, surrendering a rebound goal to Ryan St. Louis, but the response was measured and composed. Justin Gill, back in the lineup after missing Monday’s game with an injury, tied it late in the first period.
It marked the second straight game in which the Warriors had to rally from an early deficit, following a similar start earlier in the week against Vermont.
“I think that experience actually helped us,” Merrimack coach Scott Borek said. “There wasn’t any panic on our bench. It was one goal — we knew we just needed to get to work. I really liked the way we responded to that situation.”
Ty Daneault put the Warriors in front midway through the second period, but St. Louis struck again late in the frame to send the teams to the intermission tied.
The difference came on the power play in the third. Nick Pierre scored his 10th goal of the season midway through the period, providing the eventual game-winner.
“We got a little light in the second period, but I was proud of the way we battled through some things in this game,” Borek said. “We had a really strong third period.”
The Warriors are idle until next Saturday, when they travel to Holy Cross with a chance to extend the streak to five games and bring their overall record back to the .500 mark.
