Woodford Returns to Merrimack as Assistant Coach
David Woodford is returning to Merrimack as an assistant coach, taking over the role previously held by Tanner Sorenson, who departed to join the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL) as an assistant coach after serving as a player/coach with the organization at the end of his playing career.
Woodford is no stranger to the program. He spent five years at Merrimack as a student, serving as the inaugural Lance Brady Video Assistant, where he oversaw video and technology operations. From there, he advanced to video and analytical coordinator. In his final season with the Warriors in 2022-23, he was promoted to graduate assistant, expanding his responsibilities to include on-ice skills, practice support, and overseeing replay challenges.
Most recently, Woodford spent the past two seasons as an assistant coach at Connecticut College, gaining valuable experience on the bench and in recruiting before returning to North Andover. He’ll join the staff under Scott Borek that includes Dan Jewell (associate head coach) and Ryan Durocher (assistant coach).
