End of 2: BC leads 2-0. SOG 30-13 BC (19-2 in the period). Attempts 46-27 BC (32-6 in the period). That was the worst period I think I've seen MC play all year.
I genuinely cannot believe the penalty this officiating crew just called on Durflinger. He got knocked over onto the puck, and I guess he didn't get up as quickly as the official thought he should have? So it's a delay of game call and BC is on the PP with 12:49 left in the 2nd.
2:54 left. Not a bad period overall. A bad start for sure, giving up the early goal and taking 2 penalties, but not a bad period overall. The game has been more even in the last 10 minutes thanks in part to the 5v3.
I'll be honest, that hit (and penalty) on Vinnell looked like the same hit that St. Ivany put on Copponi on a reverse at the other end of the ice a few minutes ago.
Per the line chart, BC will go with Eric Dop (3-2-1, 2.78, .877) in goal. He'll go against Zach Borgiel (3-3-0, 3.55, .867). Dop is a transfer from Bowling Green.
Final Score: BC defeats Merrimack, 4-1. SOG 35-24 BC. Attempts 56-44 BC. Rematch tomorrow afternoon in Chestnut Hill.
BC ENG: 4-1 Eagles.
Penalty on BC. Hooking called. 6v4 for MC with 1:28 left.
MC net is empty with 1:51 left.
SOG 9-3 MC in the 3rd.
Timeout BC
4:03 left
Mac Welsher on the turnaround shot with bodies scrambling all over the place near the crease.
MERRIMACK GOAL: Warriors make it 3-1 with 4:52 left.
Matching penalties. Shamburger for holding, Forsmark for embellishment.
Merrimack coughed up the puck on a breakout and it led to a 2-on-0 BC chance.
BC GOAL: Not SH, but almost. 3-0 Eagles.
MC ices it on the PP
Penalty on BC with 14:44 left in the 3rd. MC to the PP. For subscribers, scoring on the PP was one of my keys because BC has been so good at 5v5

End of 2: BC leads 2-0. SOG 30-13 BC (19-2 in the period). Attempts 46-27 BC (32-6 in the period). That was the worst period I think I've seen MC play all year.
Carlile is OK after the block. He's back out there.
3:06 left in the 2nd
4v4
SOG 16-2 BC in this period. 27-13 in the game.
These refs scream "move it!" at players along the wall all game long. I've been listening to it for 3 weeks.
I genuinely cannot believe the penalty this officiating crew just called on Durflinger. He got knocked over onto the puck, and I guess he didn't get up as quickly as the official thought he should have? So it's a delay of game call and BC is on the PP with 12:49 left in the 2nd.
And now Merrimack heads to the PP with 10.6 left in the period.
Well, you don't want to give up goals in the first two minutes or the last two minutes of a period, and MC has done both.
BC GOAL: Eagles make it 2-0 with 35.9 left in the 1st
Merrimack back to the PK
2:54 left. Not a bad period overall. A bad start for sure, giving up the early goal and taking 2 penalties, but not a bad period overall. The game has been more even in the last 10 minutes thanks in part to the 5v3.
SOG 8-7 BC at the media timeout.
BC kills both penalties. Back to 5v5 with 5:33 left in the 1st
Big spot here ... 1:29 of 5v3 coming for MC
Merrimack to the PP right after they kill the Vinnell penalty. 8:41 left in the first period.
I'll be honest, that hit (and penalty) on Vinnell looked like the same hit that St. Ivany put on Copponi on a reverse at the other end of the ice a few minutes ago.
But the puck goes down the other end and Merrimack takes another penalty. That just crippled any momentum.
Great shift by the Walsh line. Started with Walsh picking off a pass.
Nice look like Jandric to find Newton charging on the back door.
Back to 5v5 as Merrimack kills the penalty.
This is not the start you wanted if you're Merrimack. Already down 1-0 and now have to kill a penalty.
Annnnnnd BC is headed to the PP.
Mike Postma from Justin Wells
Just settling in. Eagles score on their second shot of the night.
BC GOAL: Eagles take a 1-0 lead just 1:43 into the game.
