The big key for Merrimack thus far has been on the dot. For subscribers, they know it was one of my keys coming into the game. Merrimack went 18-5 on the dot in that opening period. There were some huge wins on the PK.
This is going to sound very obvious ... I mean, he's 6-8 ... but there is not a lot of room to shoot on Ollas. Colgate has had some decent chance, but Ollas just takes up so much of the net there's no room for the puck. I'm not a goalie coach, but it feels like the less movement he has the better.
One quick note -- Merrimack head coach Scott Borek is not with the team tonight. He has been cleared to return tomorrow, and will drive to Colgate and join the team for tomorrow's game.
It's been 3 games, but an NHL team is going to sign Declan Carlile. Someone has to sign him. He's played so well with and without the puck. He should have been drafted, quite frankly.
Ollas has been very good. There's so much to adjust to as a goalie coming from Europe to NA. You don't think so because the size of the ice is the same in the crease, but the angles are different on the smaller sheet and there's so much more traffic.
I feel like there have been some times where Merrimack has over-passed the puck. Not every time, but there have been times tonight where the Warriors have a shot and try to make one too many passes.
Seyfert off for what I believe is going to be a tripping call. Colgate PP with 11:27 left. Big test for the Merrimack PK here. They're 4 for 4 tonight.
Colgate's wingers seem like they're trying to smother the dot when Newton is on draws. Both wingers crash hard on draws when Newton takes it, especially in their D zone.
I only see Bob Emery and Josh Ciocco on the bench for Merrimack. Means Dan Jewell is likely out on a recruiting trip. Like I mentioned earlier, Scott Borek will return tomorrow.
Sorry for the delay. Some technical issues but it's all sorted out now. 0-0 after one period between Merrimack and Colgate.
SOG 11-8 Colgate, but Merrimack had to kill 3 penalties, including a 5v3. Hugo Ollas has looked sharp in his first 20 minutes.

Off and running in the second period.

Merrimack has had the bulk of the possession early in the second period. Five minutes into the period and the Warriors have 10 shot attempts.

COLGATE GOAL: Raiders take a 1-0 lead
Tommy Bergsland with the goal.
MC had a strong first 5 minutes of the second period but the next five belonged to the Raiders.
MERRIMACK GOAL: Warriors answer right back. 1-1
2-on-1 with Newton and Jefferies. They give and go and Newton finishes on the pass from Jefferies. Pretty play.
Merrimack scores 1:24 after the Colgate goal.
Ollas looking strong.. Felt he kept them in the game in the 1st period.
I agree on Ollas. He's been great.
Sorry, some issues again! I promise this will get fixed. I think I have it figured out. Some wireless issues.
Game on in the 3r
SOG in the 2nd were 10-7 Colgate and attempts were 20-16 Merrimack

Terrific effort there by Devlin O'Brien

Some other HEA scores ...
Northeastern 2, BC 2 (end of 2)
Minnesota State 5, Providence 2 (F)
UMass 5, AIC 0 (end of 2)
Sacred Heart 1, BU 1 (10:00, 2nd)
SOG in that SHU/BU game is 18-14 Sacred Heart. Attempts are 34-21 SHU.
12:10 left, still 1-1.
Seyfert off for what I believe is going to be a tripping call. Colgate PP with 11:27 left. Big test for the Merrimack PK here. They're 4 for 4 tonight.
Liam Walsh with a bid shorthanded. He might have been taken down. Tough to tell.
Walsh was either tripped up or just blew an edge.
Merrimack PK is 5 for 5 tonight. Back to even.
Ollas makes a big save and gets a whistle so the Warriors can change with 8:58 left.
He doesn't make anything look overly difficult, but Ollas has been outstanding tonight.
Warriors need something to get momentum back. Colgate has had the better of the play since the PP chance.
Leave it to Alex Jefferies who transitioned quickly into a scoring chance and now an offensive-zone draw.
Merrimack's women's program is up 4-2 on Boston University. Could be an upset brewing there.
Max Newton is 19-3 on draws tonight. Wow.
What a shot by Uens. Gylander makes the stop with his glove. 4:43 left.
Colgate's wingers seem like they're trying to smother the dot when Newton is on draws. Both wingers crash hard on draws when Newton takes it, especially in their D zone.
They need to do something to try to stop him there. 19-3 is ridiculous.
Devlin O'Brien with a great chance setting up Durflinger. Good job getting the puck up the wall.
Merrimack ices it with 1:13 left.
SOG listed as 29-19. I have it as 23-18, for what it's worth.
Drevitch gets hooked down, no call. That seemed like an obvious one.
This tends to happen with NC games. But that one looked pretty obvious.
Headed to OT ... 1-1
3v3 OT coming up. Merrimack's first of the year.
I only see Bob Emery and Josh Ciocco on the bench for Merrimack. Means Dan Jewell is likely out on a recruiting trip. Like I mentioned earlier, Scott Borek will return tomorrow.
Game on
Jefferies out with Carlile and Newton to begin the OT for Merrimack
Not much happening 2:00 into OT for MC.
2:37 left in OT
